Gifts That Inspire

Special occasions are few and far between, so when they do come around, you want to show that special someone that you truly care about them. The task is to know what the individual likes - their tastes, their interests, their beliefs. You can accomplish this however, by looking at what they have around their house, observing whether they have books, knick knacks, jewelry, or stuffed animals. Using this as a guide, you can choose what to buy them. There are so many possibilities for really creative and personal gifts if you open your mind to new ideas. Gift ideas include:

Personalized Jewelry: A personalized bracelet or other piece of jewelry such as a ring, with an engraving relating to your friendship, or if it’s for your spouse, perhaps write: Love Forever, Friends Always or Together Forever. These inspirational jewelry pieces will show that you spent a lot of time choosing the gift, and that you really care about the person, be it a loved one, or a very close friend.

Books: Find out what sort of books your friend likes, and then perhaps acquire a first edition of their favorite book, or even one signed by the author. Though this can be difficult to obtain, especially if the author is well known, or the book is very popular, however, though it may be pricey, it could mean a lot to that special someone. Other ideas may be inspirational books, such as the Chicken Soup series, or one of the Dave Pelzer books, which demonstrate great inspiration, and overcoming odds.

Office Items: It can be a great idea to get your friend or loved one some customized office equipment, such as engraved pens, or plaques to keep near their desk. These items can also include a framed picture of family members, or possibly candies.

Stuffed Animal: It can be prudent to determine what sort of animals that person likes, maybe it’s a panda bear, or tigers, or possibly even dogs, and in that case the perfect gift for them, is a stuffed representation of their favorite animal. There are literally thousands of types of stuffed animals to choose from these days, and they can range from very, very cheap, to extremely expensive, though the more expensive ones aren’t necessarily a determining factor in how much you care-what matters is that you went the extra mile to make the one you care about happy, and that can be the most important thing of all.

Name a Star: How special would that be? Have a star named in honor of your friend and include a special note letting them know they’ll always be able to “wish upon a star.”. This very unique gift is something they will have with them for the rest of their lives. There are many ways you can go about doing this, there are online resources to help you locate a service, or you can try looking in the phone book, either way, you’re sure to make someone very, very happy!

So now that you have a basic idea what you want to get for that special someone, go ahead and do it, make them extremely happy for either their birthday, anniversary, or just because, and remember, a personal touch makes all the difference!

flower power

Choosing flower bouquets for lovers can be especially difficult. Sure, it’s easier than constructing a personalized love poem, but how can one carefully choose the best flowers to suit the particular relationship? For instance, red rose bouquets may be fine for a couple who have been dating for a year, but not for those who have been dating just a few days. Conversely, handing a wife four daisies and a carnation haphazardly thrown together to conserve cash may not be interpreted as a thoughtful gesture at all. Sending bouquets of flowers to say “I’m sorry” may work the first time but may not be received so well the next time. So how does one choose the appropriate bouquet?

The first thing to consider when choosing floral arrangements for lovers is the nature of the relationship. Daisies and chrysanthemums are perfect for a cheerful and playful lover in an innocent and new relationship. Another flirtatious favorite for new loves is the fragrant hyacinth. Modest and shy lovers will like something sweet and simple like violets. Rose bouquets are the most famous, particularly red roses, but there are many other flower garden contenders: tulips, lilacs, lilies, wildflowers, irises and orchids, for instance. For intensely passionate physical relationships, it should be noted that tulips are traditionally known to represent “the perfect lover.”

Sometimes flower bouquets look best when coordinated with the recipient’s home decor. “The recent Harvard research is proof that if we live in places that lift our spirits, we can live happier, healthier lives,” said Rebecca Cole of the Discovery Channel’s Surprise By Design show. “Fresh cut flowers are the perfect everyday accessory for any budget, as they add color, fragrance and style, and now we know they even increase energy and compassion.” Traditional homes work best with traditional flowers, such as rose bouquets, gladiolus, irises, lilies or carnations, whereas contemporary designs call for bold colors of anthuriums, heliconia, callas and orchids. Victorian homes look best with fragrant pastels, such as roses, peonies, lavender, gardenias and freesia. Country homes often go for a bouquet of wildflowers like yarrow, wild roses, scabiosa, heather, daisies or sunflowers. To instantly de-stress a home, try varieties like cyclamen, kalanchoe, pothos, ivy, sunflowers, daisies, hydrangea, delphinium or tulips.

No matter which flowers are selected, timing is everything. The best thing about flower bouquets is that most websites offer same day flower delivery, which means someone’s bad day can quickly be transformed when a fresh bouquet arrives at work! A sudden trip to the hospital or the death of a family pet won’t seem as tragic when a vivid floral arrangement arrives. Thoughtfulness can go a long way, whether it’s a wildflower selected on a romantic stroll through the park or an orchestrated celebratory bouquet that comes by mail.

Stringing beads together is an art that mankind has known since ancient times and that has been carried out for many reasons such as symbolizing religious beliefs. Back in the ancient world tribes used the bones of wild animals and would string them onto fibers and would then wear them for protection believing that they would be safe from bad spirits.

As civilization became more advanced man would learn how to drill and pierce holes in objects and this led to great progress in beading. Necklaces would be created from many objects that would include seashells, seed pods and nut shells as well as many other objects. Bead development would eventually progress with the coloring of beads. Clay beads would often be coated in enamel

The Egyptians were masters of glass making and they would revolutionize bead making as glass beads were far more beautiful and could be used to make the most wonderful necklaces. They would use glass that would come in many different colors and they would combine these colored glass beads with gemstones, both precious and semi-precious. Gold and silver would also be added.

Beads would become in great demand and would become a valuable trading commodity and were traded and exported all around the world, even as far back as ancient times. Many cultures would embrace beading especially the Chinese, Babylonians and in ancient India.

Beading development would also be greatly influenced by the Romans as they would trade their beads throughout the Roman Empire. This influence would spread to the Celts and the Vikings who would use beads to make wonderful bracelets, necklaces and amulets. The Native American Indians would also embrace beading and their works are still used today in modern fashion such as turquoise colored watch bands, belts and necklaces.

Beading was and still is to this very day an important part of Native American culture. Many Indian tribes in the Americas would train their womenfolk at becoming adept in the beading arts. A technique called bead quilling was considered sacred. The workmanship and art of bead quilling was considered sacred and not the finished beaded items themselves. That is rather different to the norm in Western societies where the finished product is what is valued most and not the workmanship that created it.

aromatherapy candles

The next time you are wracking your brain for gift ideas why don’t you try this? Take a lovely wicker basket and place aromatherapy candles in it and give it away with some other nice trinkets and body lotions. It is a great gift for anyone at work. It is great for all the ladies you know because women love nicely scented candles and lotions. It also makes a nice gift for a guy who wants his home or office to smell relaxing and tranquil.

Essential oils used in aromatherapy candles are entirely different than the oils used in body lotions. There is a higher concentration in the candle oil to help it permeate a room, whereas the lotion does not have to be as strong. If you were to use the candle oil on your skin, then it may break out in a rash.

An aromatherapy candle makes a great centerpiece for a basket. You can take a decorative basket and fill it with paper tissue colored especially for whatever occasion you are celebrating. Place an aromatherapy candle in the center. As great additions, you can include aromatherapy essential oils for fragrance burners in the same scent as the candle, or choose another one, as well as some body lotions in different fragrances. If the recipient is crafty, then aromatherapy books explaining how to make their own massage oils might be a good choice.

Okay, so a basket filled with rose candles and rose scented body lotions is not going to go over very well with a man, but that does not mean that there aren’t other scents that will work. You could try sandalwood or neroli for a soothing scent that will appease the male machismo. Vanilla is a common scent for candles and is neutral enough to be used in a man’s home. Of course you may want to skip the body lotions in case he gets offended. However, most men would love a body massage, so perhaps tucking a gift certificate into the basket for massage services would be appreciated.

Your aromatherapy candles will be a huge hit with anyone lucky enough to receive the gift from you. It does not have to stop at the candles though. You can add in other products that contain aromatherapy essential oils. Why not throw in some handmade home diffusers you found in a local craft store? You can include a bottle of the essential oil as a way to help add another layer of fragrance to the home. Regardless of what you choose, your basket will no doubt be talked about for quite some time.

There is a new Japanese Anime game called Bakugan that kids are going crazy for. The story is about the lives of the Bakugan and the battle brawlers who wield them. 51 TV episodes were shown in Japan and it was subsequently put on Cartoon Network in February 2008. It has since been created into a Bakugan game by Sega consisting of metal trading cards and spring loaded miniature action figure. Kids love to play Bakugan and it is a game that parents should not be afraid of their children being interested in as it gives them a way to interact without video games.

The first step in getting started with Bakugan is the purchase of a Bakugan starter pack. This consists of metal trading cards and spring loaded miniature action figures. Specifically you will get 6 Bakugan, 8 magnetic Gate cards and a set of instructions. The starter pack is considered a good deal since buying individual Bakugan would cost far more.

Over time your kid will decide what color they will like the best. The starter pack includes Bakugan that are represented by attribute by their various colors. The Earth is represented by Sub-Terra which is brown. Pyrus is red and represents fire. Aquos represents water and is blue. Ventus represents the air and is green. The light is represented by Haos and is a white color. Darkus represents darkness and is black.

As your child continues to play they will eventually choose a favorite color which will result in discovering what their favorite Bakugan is. At some point you will take notice of what color your child enjoys playing with more. That will allow you be more selective in future purchases of a Bakugan battle pack.

Kids will get much enjoyment out of getting involved with playing Bakugan. They will be forced to use skills that will involve strategy and math. Parents should embrace the game as it will get the kids more involved with their friends and not stuck in front of the TV.
